Most women (more than 80% worldwide) and LGBQT folks will face gender-based street harassment at some point in their life. Street harassment limits people's mobility and access to public spaces. I grew up on rap music in the 80's. I watched it go from conscious to braggadocious to bass to gangsta to club to bling to whatever you wish to call it now.

I still enjoy rap, but not even remotely close as I did 25 years ago when Big Daddy Kane, Rakim MC Lyte and others were doing their thing.

Tonight, we'll discuss the lyrical side of rap, the business side and the future of rap:

• We'll discuss "payola."
• If hip hop stars getting married will influence young guys to 'put a ring on it.'
• A teen who gave up a college scholarship to pursue his rap career.

Racial Profiling = Injustice

Tonight's show was to be about a young lady who is not happy with "the skin she's in," but things have changed.

Last night, we witnessed yet another tragedy in the U.S. courts with the "not guilty" verdict of George Zimmerman.  Zimmerman is one of many people who has profiled, followed and ultimately shot and killed someone of the dark skin variety.  This is not new at all here in the U.S.  This is just yet another tragic example of how the justice system fails to actually provide justice.

There is no consistency within the laws.  Not even in the same state.  Last year on the show, we discussed Marissa Alexander.  A black woman who fired warning shots at her abusive husband yet still found herself charged with 20 years in prison.  No one died or even got hurt, yet she got 20 years for just firing a weapon and scaring her attacker.
